Time Is Of The Essence.

Wednesday, December 29th, 2004

These past few days have been really busy. Starting Monday I went back to work at MRC (the place I worked over the summer) for a week. Nine to five feels like such a long time now that I’m used to only having to be awake and coherent for two hours at a time at the most. Anyway, it’s not that big a deal because it’s a great job. I really can’t complain.

Christmas Surprises.

Saturday, December 25th, 2004

It’s Christmas day(::edit:: well, it was when I wrote this) and we’ve been back from Jamaica for a little under two days. Coming home to nineteen inches of snow was quite a kick in the head, especially when I’d lost my jacket and had nothing more than a t-shirt to wear. Upon arriving at the Dayton airport we found our car buried under mountains of snow and absolutely no trace of any of our luggage except for mine. They must have sensed that I was some sort of important person and made a special effort to stick my bag onto our plane. The US Airways representative claimed that due to the bad weather they had to put more fuel and less luggage on the plane in case we needed to land somewhere other than the intended destination. Anyway, what it all came down to was that hardly anyone actually got their luggage and the baggage claims desk was mobbed by furious people who were already frustrated enough by the hostile weather conditions. I guess nobody can really blame them for trying to provide for our safety, but I doubt anyone wants to have to spend Christmas in the clothes they wore home from their vacation.

Just What I Needed.

Between the crazy Taylor power outage fiasco, this being the last week of classes, next week being exams, and people getting ready for the holidays, things have been pretty focused and, well, less than jubilant on campus. It seems like there’s some new prayer meeting/support group thing almost every night. I agree that prayer and stuff is good, but I get the feeling that it’s mostly the administration trying to guilt out the power outage perpetrators so they don’t have to be the initiators of any big confrontations or accusations. Either way, I don’t really know or care about much of what’s been going on since a) at the time I was trying desperately to be peacefully asleep and b) well, basically I just don’t care.

Ponderings in 4D

Monday, December 6th, 2004

Yeah, so yesterday I was thinking about the fourth dimension. I’d never really thought about that sort of thing before, aside from dimension X where the brain guy from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came from, and it began to intrigue me. So, what do I do when something intrigues me? I write a lot about it. So, here is a very amateur and probably painfully flawed discourse on dimensions in time and space.
