A Pure Heart For A Princess

April 30, 2006

For my creative writing class we were supposed to rewrite a myth or fairy tale. As you can imagine, this presented me with a plethora of wonderful opportunities to do great evil to the long cherished tales we all know and love. And with that, here’s my rendition of Sleeping Beauty.

Finally Smoking

April 28, 2006

I finally went and saw Thank You For Smoking, and I’ve got to say it was pretty much the greatest movie I’ve seen this year. But the weirdest thing happened before I went into the theater. My friend Adam and I were standing outside waiting for him to finish his coffee and this bus pulled up right next to where we were standing. The doors opened and this really tall black guy stepped out. But as he was descending the steps from the bus, he pulled an empty, wadded up hamburger wrapper and threw it at my head. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, but I just feel like there’s something better out there. The holy grail of jobs is waiting for me somewhere, and I’m determined to find it.

April 17, 2006

Ah, spring is finally here to stay. It’s after Easter and the trees have leaves and my car is filled with rainwater! Beautiful days. And speaking of cars and trees and rainwater, I had a job interview early this morning. I think it went pretty well. Less than two hours after I got home I received a phone call to set up a second interview. That’s on Wednesday. So maybe after that I will officially be Andrew Welsh of Widmer’s Dry Cleaners and Laundry. It seems like an okay job, but it looks like I’ll be the only person working there who is under 55 and male.
