June 30, 2006

I had the day off from work today. My friend Jaysen came over and spent the night last night. We watched a movie in the evening and then went out shopping today. I was going to write “went to the mall” instead of “shopping”, but it was definitely “shopping”. It was my first time at the Kenwood mall, and that place is crazy. They have nice floors and plants everywhere, an Apple Computer store, and the ground doesn’t even shake.

I feel like almost every time I sit down to write something here I say, “Well, it’s been a busy week(end),” or “The past few days have been interesting.” And then I sit and clip my fingernails for a minute or so and try to think of what was busy or interesting. I spent about half of the Fathers Day weekend at home. I had to return to Cincinnati to work for the half that actually included Fathers Day, but it was nice to see the family for a day or so anyway. Work on Sunday consisted of five hours of throwing a little squishy baseball back and forth. It’s the closest to being paid to do sports that I’ve ever gotten.

June 15, 2006

The past few days of work have been interesting. We finished shelving books and now I’m working at a register. My register training went sort of like this:
Manager: “Andrew, take over on this register.”
Andrew: “O.K.!” “Err… how?”
Manager: “I’m going on break. Seeya!”
Everyone I work with is really nice, but not exactly on the ball. There’s a lot of learn-by-doing that goes on.
