October 30, 2006

I’m beginning to figure out how to manage my time more efficiently and get things done so that I have at least a little free time every once in a while. And with that I’ve finished reading Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert) and begun reading An American Tragedy (Theodore Dreiser). I’m only about a hundred pages into it, but it’s been great so far. And in the introduction, I learned that Dreiser began his writing career as a journalist and worked in newspapers for much of his life. He also wrote a bunch of novels, and that pretty much puts him in the hero category.

October 21, 2006

It’s been a long time since I last updated I guess. As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, things have been crazy with school, work, writing, and moving. As of today, I’m about 90% moved in. Don’t worry, I haven’t given up updating; I’ve just been ridiculously busy lately, what with moving and writing and school and everything. I’m starting to get caught up again, so hopefully I’ll get an entry up within the next few days. So look forward to that, complete with recent wacky antics and pictures of the house I’ve moved into.

And it makes me really happy that so many people have taken the time to register. Only working together can we defeat the powerful malevolence that is spam.

Just give it to me in writing and you’re done.” All of the love and adoration that I thought I had at the bookstore was apparently a lie.

October 4, 2006

Today was a full day. I went to campus to work from 8:30 to 10:30 at DSO (my textbook reading job). I work there between two and three hours every day of the week. It’s really great though. Getting paid to read is essentially my nirvana, and the people I work with are amazing. My boss, Mike, is super cool. I spent about twenty minutes yesterday talking with him about whether or not we actually landed on the moon. We also spoke at length of crock pots, intravenous coffee, tai chi, and the Mayans.
